KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are speaking more about a major police presence on Parkcrest Avenue in Brocklehurst Wednesday (June 12).

In a news release, spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers from the detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit conducting patrols found a cache of illegal items at that site.

Evelyn says at about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, members noticed two stolen vehicles parked at a property in the 1800-block of Parkcrest Avenue. A suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property but was later released without process.

Officers searched the property and found two more stolen vehicles, three ounces of suspected illegal drugs, two loaded guns and other weapons. The stolen vehicles consisted of a Chrysler sedan, a Ford pickup truck and two motorcycles.

“These seizures are part of the continued efforts of our CRU and frontline officers to suppress and reduce crime, with a focus on criminals who are known to be associated to the illegal drug trafficking trade,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley in the release. “Officers interacted with several people known to police who were present at the Parkcrest location. Based on the items located and the ongoing investigation, we are confident that yesterday’s presence helped mitigate and prevent a potential act of violence.”

Anyone with further information on the seizures is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2024-18146.
