Blown lead and clean sheet: Rivers FC drops pair of matches to Burnaby FC

KAMLOOPS — Rivers FC suffered a pair of losses in Burnaby over the weekend, one via a blown lead and the other via a clean sheet.

On Saturday (June 8), Rivers FC’s men’s squad jumped to a 3-0 lead over Burnaby FC within the first 19 minutes. Tristan Jumeau scored twice while Justin Wallace scored the other goal.

However, the end of the first half was the exact opposite of the beginning for Rivers FC, as Burnaby FC scored three goals to tie the match 3-3 at half time. Burnaby added two more goals en route to a 5-3 win.

On the women’s side, Rivers FC and Burnaby were scoreless heading into the second half. However, Burnaby scored three goals en route to the 3-0 win.

The men fall to one win, five losses and one draw in the 2024 League1 BC season, good for four points in seven matches. Rivers FC is seventh in the table.

Rivers FC returns to Hillside Stadium Sunday, June 16 to welcome Burnaby FC for a pair of rematches. The women play at 3:30 p.m. and the men play at 5:30 p.m.
