Barriere Secondary student killed in apparent ATV mishap
BARRIERE, B.C. — For the second time in a matter of weeks, a Kamloops-area high school is mourning the death of a student.
In a note sent to parents Monday (June 10), Barriere Secondary School principal John Tyler says Grade 10 student Myles Martens died in an accident Sunday.
A social media report suggested the accident took place on the Darlington Creek Forest Service Road and involved an ATV. CFJC Today has reached out to authorities to confirm that information, but has yet to receive a response.
Tyler says support resources are in place for students and families who need them. He notes the school’s Athletic Banquet planned for Tuesday has been cancelled.
