KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops NorthPaws won their first series of the 2024 West Coast League (WCL) season by taking two out of three games against the Bellingham Bells at Norbrock Stadium.

A trio of walks in the sixth inning on Tuesday (June 5) led the NorthPaws to take the lead with a wild pitch and RBI groundout. They hung on for the 3-2 win.

On Wednesday, Thompson Rivers University WolfPack pitcher Kolby Luckinchuk gave up one run on seven hits in six innings as the NorthPaws blew out the Bells 7-1 to win the series. The NorthPaws also turned a rare triple play in the seventh inning.

However, the NorthPaws couldn’t complete the sweep as they were blown out by the Bells on Thursday 11-1.

The NorthPaws have a 3-3 record on the 2024 WCL season, tie for fourth in the North Division standings. And according to Head Coach Jose Bautista, more enforcements are on the way.

“We win the series that is the most important thing to do,” Bautista says. “Couple more players coming in pretty soon. We just started, looking to get more wins and get closer games. I’m pretty happy with what I’m seeing.”

The NorthPaws are off Friday. They’ll welcome the Coquitlam Angels to Norbrock Stadium Saturday and Sunday for a pair of non-league games.

The NorthPaws begin their first road trip Tuesday, June 11 when they head to Longview, Washington for three games against the Cowlitz Black Bears. The NorthPaws return home Friday, June 14 for a three-game series with the Wenatchee Applesox.
