B.C. Green Party leader comes to Kamloops to support Kamloops Centre candidate Sunderman
KAMLOOPS — Ahead of the upcoming provincial election, B.C. Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau made a rare visit to Kamloops Thursday (June 6) in support of Kamloops Centre candidate Randy Sunderman. Furstenau joined Sunderman at a downtown coffee shop to hear from local residents as to what they see as the main political issues in this province.
The B.C. Green Party is currently the fourth party in the B.C. Legislature behind the governing NDP, official opposition B.C. United and third party B.C. Conservatives. With a possible vote split on the right in October, Furstenau is not focusing on polling prior to an expected election this fall.
“If Greens were focused on polls, we wouldn’t be where we are right now. We’re focused on connecting with people and listening to people like we did today,” said Furstenau. “Formulating solutions and working on how government can sell things. We work on the ground and our candidates are on the ground connecting with people. I was a middle distance runner when I was in high school and in a middle distance race, you just focus on your own race. And that’s what I focus on.”
