Local firefighters earn a bye to the World FireFit Championships in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — A group of Kamloops firefighters has earned a bye to the World FireFit Championships.
Members from Kamloops Fire Rescue competed at the B.C. Pacific Regionals in Courtenay from May 24 to 26 and earned first place spots in events such as open male, team open male, relay open male and over 45 males.
With the results, the Kamloops firefighters earned a spot at the World FireFit Championships taking place in the Tournament Capital from Sept. 25 to 29.
“The team is excited to host the worlds and are excited and confident going into the summer season training regularly. With five national championships to their name, Kamloops is looking to add a sixth and to once again solidify their name amongst the best and fittest in the world,” KFR’s Graham Mackenzie says.
