QUESNEL, B.C. β€” Two men were arrested in Quesnel over a two-day stretch after police seized cash, drugs and illegal cigarettes.

On Thursday (May 30), Quesnel RCMP executed two search warrants at home and holiday trailer after carrying out a drug trafficking investigation.

In a news release issued Saturday, RCMP say the search led to the seizure of 170 grams of cocaine, 105 cartons of illegal cigarettes, assorted ammunition and cash. A Quesnel man was arrested at the scene and later released pending charge assessment by the Crown.

Then on Friday, RCMP held a traffic stop on Front Street after spotting a Quesnel man driving while prohibited. After finding used drug paraphernalia and illegal cigarettes in the vehicle, police carried out a search which led to the seizure of paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, 388 grams of methamphetamine, 102 grams of fentanyl, 50 grams of cocaine and 12 grams of heroin.

The man was charged with driving while prohibited pending charge assessment by the Crown for drug related charges.

β€œThe proactive enforcement by the Crime Reduction Unit resulted in the seizure of toxic drugs that not only fuel addiction, but also put vulnerable people in grave danger of overdosing,” S/Sgt. Richard Weseen says.
