New wildfire springs up near Spences Bridge

SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — A new wildfire was discovered near Spences Bridge Friday (May 24).

According to the B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS), the fire was discovered just after 3:00 p.m. just north of Spences Bridge, near Drinkwater Road on the east side of the Thompson River.

As of Friday evening, the fire was measured at 10 hectares and considered out of control. BCWS says the fire is believed to have been caused by human activity.

The Thompson Nicola Regional District does not have any emergency alerts in place and Drive BC does not report any disruptions to the Trans Canada Highway in the area.
