Woman charged with arson after Merritt structure fire sends two people to hospital

MERRITT, B.C. — A woman who was charged with arson causing bodily harm remains in custody after a structure fire that seriously injured two people in Merritt.
In a news release issued Wednesday (May 22), Merritt RCMP say officers responded to the 1900-block of Houston Street at around 5:00 a.m. Monday for the report of a structure fire.
Police say the Merritt Fire Department and Emergency Health Services were on scene treating two victims who suffered significant injuries from the fire. Both were stabilized and remain in hospital.
Lynn Johnny was arrested at the scene. She’s set to appear in court virtually on Friday for a bail hearing.
