KAMLOOPS — A man is in custody for charges related to a vehicle fire earlier this week in downtown Kamloops.

William Aaron Lamb, 23, of Kamloops is facing charges related to intentionally or recklessly causing fire and two counts of failure to comply with a court order.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday (May 23).

Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle fire in a parking lot at about 11:40 p.m. on Monday (May 20) on the 100-block of St. Paul Street.

Two vehicles and a building were damaged as a result of the blaze. No injuries were reported.

“Kamloops frontline officers, with the assistance of the General Investigations Support Team, located and arrested a suspect the next morning, who was held in police custody for a bail hearing,” Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said on Wednesday in a news release.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-15161.
