Scarlett Johansson Not Happy With AI

Scarlett Johansson claims that OpenAI replicated her voice for their ChatGPT system, after she declined their request to voice it herself. “Nine months later, my friends, family and the general public all noted how much the newest system named ‘Sky’ sounded like me,” she said in a statement. OpenAI announced earlier Monday that they would be “temporarily” removing the voice amid the controversy — without offering a reason — but insisted Sky was recorded by a professional voice actor and was not meant to replicate Johansson.

However, her role as a sexy AI chatbot in the movie Her was referenced by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in connection to the new voice offerings. Johansson even called him out by name in her statement, saying she felt that the “similarity was intentional.” She now wants OpenAI to explain the process they used to create Sky, and loosely threatened legal action.
