Single-family dwellings carry Kamloops building sector in April
KAMLOOPS — After multi-family units carried the Kamloops building sector for the first quarter of 2024, it was single-family homes that had a strong showing in April.
New numbers released by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division show $17.3 million in permit activity in April, more than double the $7.7 million during the same month last year.
Thirteen single-family dwelling permits were worth a combined $9.6 million in April 2024. In total, the City reports $14.2 million in residential construction value from 31 permits last month compared $3.8 million over 23 permits during the same month last year.
In total, 286 permits have been approved throughout the first four months of 2024, down from 313 during the same timeframe last year. However, the $65.7 million in construction value in 2024 is nearly double the $34.9 million in 2023.
