Truax Creek Wildfire burning out of control at 183 hectares, with no growth reported overnight
LILLOOET, B.C. — As of Tuesday afternoon (May 14), the Truax Creek wildfire is still burning out of control near Carpenter Lake.
Nicole Bonnett, a fire information officer with the BC Wildfire Service, says the fire is now 183 hectares in size, noting that number has increased from an updated measurement, not fire spread.
“Last night into today, there was no growth on the fire, which is really good to see,” she explains.
BC Wildfire has 20 crew members on scene, a structure protection specialist and four helicopters. Crews are focused on the west flank at this time, with helicopters working on the eastern flank closest to Carpenter Lake.
