Downed tree knocks out power to North Shuswap, Sorrento

SQUILAX, B.C. — BC Hydro is reporting a large power outage Thursday morning (May 9) affecting the areas of Adams Lake, the North Shuswap, Squilax and Sorrento.
According to the utility’s website, the power went off just before 8:00 a.m. and was caused by a tree coming down over power lines.
The outage is affecting a total of 1,349 customers.
As of 9:00 a.m., BC Hydro said a crew was en route to the scene of the problem.
