ALEXIS CREEK, B.C. — A wildfire south of the Cariboo community of Alexis Creek is under control at 133 hectares.

In an update Sunday (May 5), the BC Wildfire service says the suspected human-caused wildfire nearly 100 kilometres west of Williams Lake is not projected to spread beyond its current perimeter.

The only other active wildfire in the Cariboo Fire Centre is the Burgess Creek wildfire between Quesnel and Williams Lake. The wildfire service says that fire is being held at 1,800 hectares.

An open burning prohibition for Category 2 and 3 fires is in effect for the Cariboo Fire Centre.
