Raiders fall to Axemen in provincial rugby final

BURNABY — Axemen Rugby Football Club of Squamish proved too sharp for the Kamloops Raiders in the B.C. Rugby Union men’s Division 2 championship match on Saturday (May 4) in Burnaby.

The Axemen claimed the provincial title with a 42-12 triumph over the Raiders, who enjoyed a bounce-back season prior to defeat in the final.

Kamloops, which posted a 1-15 record in the Division 1 ranks in 2022-2023, recorded an 11-3 mark this season in Division 2 to place second in regular season standings.

The Axemen, who knocked off the Raiders twice in the regular season, capped their undefeated campaign on Saturday with a third victory over Kamloops.
