Rivers FC earns draw and loss in Nanaimo

Nanaimo, B.C. — Rivers FC starting a four week road trip in Nanaimo on Saturday evening, as the side battled Harbourside FC at Q’ung’inuqwstuxw Stadium.

The women’s team kicked-off first and found early success with Kambria Mellum scoring in the fourth minute of the contest. The home side would equal the score in the second half curtesy of Jazmine Tamara Wilkinson in the 54th minute and the two sides played to a 1-1 draw.

It’s the second straight draw for the women, who sit third in the BC League 1 table after two fixtures.

The men’s squad suffered their first defeat of the season 2-0.

Harbourside got goals from Charlie Purcell in the 10th, and Hussein Behery in the 61st minute.

Rivers FC is back in action next week versus Altitude FC in North Vancouver on Saturday May 11. They don’t return home to Hillside Stadium until June 1.
