Downtown Kamloops assault leaves one with life-threatening injuries

KAMLOOPS — A man is in custody after an assault on Victoria Street in the heart of downtown Kamloops sent one man to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Friday (May 3) evening, Kamloops Mounties responded to the 100-block of Victoria Street for reports of a fight.
“According to the investigation so far, the assault followed a verbal altercation that escalated. A suspect was quickly located and arrested, and he currently remains in custody,” reads a RCMP press release.
“The victim is currently in critical condition, and investigators with the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed this incident,” said SCU Sergeant, Nestor Baird. “We know there were lots of people in the area at the time who may have saw what happened, and we are asking anyone who has not yet spoken to police to please contact us as soon as possible. It is important that we speak with everyone who may have information as part of this ongoing investigation.”
