KAMLOOPS — Residents in Black Pines now have access to safe drinking water.

The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) lifted the boil water notice and water quality advisory for the Black Pines Community Water System north of Heffley Creek on Friday (May 3).

In a news release, the TNRD says testing has been complete on the new groundwater well and the results are within Interior Health’s guidelines for safe, portable drinking water.

The switchover to the new groundwater well source was completed in January. The $1.5 million project received $896,666 in funding from the federal government and $150,000 from Trans Mountain, while a loan for $455,000 approved by referendum in February 2021.
