KAMLOOPS — Two notorious Kamloops men have been charged following a drug trafficking investigation that concluded in Batchelor Heights last year.

In a news release issued Thursday (May 2), Kamloops RCMP say 40-year-old Cameron Ronald Ross Cole and 44-year-old Shane Bradley Cameron are each charged with:

  • Two counts each of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl and methamphetamine
  • Four counts of firearm offences including possessing a 9 mm Polymer80 model and a 9mm glock model semi-automatic pistol with readily assessable ammunition and without a license or registration
  • Possession of a restricted and prohibited firearm while prohibited

Additionally, Shane Cameron is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

RCMP say when tens of thousands of dollars in cash, two guns, two Tasers and 4.5 kilograms of suspected illegal drugs were seized at a home on Stagecoach Drive on May 3, Cole and Cameron were released as part of the investigation. Police executed two warrants for Cole and Cameron’s arrests on Wednesday and Thursday.

“We hope that these charge approvals help encourage those in the community to continue to report suspected criminal activity and feel confident in the investigative process and its subsequent results,” Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley states.

Cole and Cameron were released with conditions and will be monitored by police and a bail supervisor.

The duo has had previous run-ins with the law. Charges related to possession of explosives and weapons were stayed against Cole in 2020 after a reported home invasion in Campbell Creek led to the seizure of firearms, bomb-making materials, cash and narcotics. Cameron was charged with aggravated assault, break and enter and forcible confinement following a vicious assault on the North Shore in 2018.

They are scheduled to appear in court on June 3, 2024.
