Municipal adviser Braun tentatively booked to deliver report to Kamloops council next week

KAMLOOPS — It appears Kamloops council is set to learn how a provincially-appointed adviser would like it to address its ongoing friction.

Council has a Committee of the Whole meeting slated for next Tuesday (May 7). The agenda for the meeting released Friday shows a tentative time slot set aside for municipal adviser Henry Braun to present his report.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs appointed Braun, a former mayor of Abbotsford, to help Kamloops council for a five-month term that began in February.

He has travelled to Kamloops several times since his appointment, meeting with Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson and the rest of council, and attending council meetings.

Council has been beset by disagreement and dysfunction since its inauguration in the fall of 2022, manifested in allegations of bullying and a defamation lawsuit.

In March, Braun told CFJC Today healthy communication would be a key to a more cohesive council.
