Jewelry heist, running-vehicle theft, interrupted break-in attempt among weekend police reports

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to about 335 calls for service from 9 a.m. on Friday (April 26) to 9 a.m. on Monday (April 29).

Below are several incident reports provided to CFJC Today by RCMP.

NORTH SHORE ASSAULT INVESTIGATION

A Kamloops man was arrested in relation to an assault investigation on the North Shore this past weekend.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 500-block of Tranquille Road for multiple reports of a man allegedly assaulting a woman.

The man was arrested and appeared in court on Monday, when he received a release order that included a new court date and conditions.

RUNNING VEHICLE STOLEN

Police are on the lookout for a brown truck that was stolen after it was left unlocked and running outside of a gas station.

On Sunday at about 9 p.m., police received a report in which a suspect exited the station store, got into the truck and headed eastbound on the East Trans Canada Highway.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-5 Caucasian man in his late 40s, with a scruffy beard and wearing a green jacket and a black Crooks and Castles hat.

The vehicle is a 2014 brown Chevy pickup truck, license plate number HF2995, with a Skid Row sticker in the back window.

BREAK-IN ATTEMPT INTERRUPTED

A suspicious noise outside led a resident to discover someone using a grinder to try to break into a commercial tool shed on Saturday.

At about 10:20 p.m., the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment was called to a business on the 500-block of Cree Drive for a break and enter in progress.

According to the report, a resident thought they heard the sound of a grinder, went outside to investigate and confronted a person using a grinder located on the property to try and gain access to the locked shed.

The suspect allegedly attempted to assault the property representative, then fled on foot southbound through the compound.

Frontline officers and the Police Dog Services Unit attended.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-7 Caucasian man in his 50s with a slight build and wearing a face-covering grey hoodie and dark pants.

REMOTE-CONTROL CAR COLLECTION PILFERED FROM SHED

Tools, clothes and a remote-control car collection were stolen during a break and enter this past weeked on Ord Road.

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment was contacted on Saturday about an overnight break-in to a shed on the 2400-block of Ord Road.

Police attended and seized evidence for examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

JEWELRY STOLEN

Police are looking for information related to a downtown break and enter report from this past weekend.

On Friday at about 7:45 a.m., police responded to the report, which involved a large, smashed window on the 100-block of Victoria Street.

Thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was stolen from the building.

A review of security footage showed the incident occurred at about 3:15 a.m.

The Forensic Identification Service Unit is assisting in the investigation.
