KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is gearing up for its annual online auction of surplus and recovered items this weekend.

Along with upwards of 180 bikes, the auction also has furniture, power tools, household items and even some special currency. Bidding begins on the items on Friday (April 26) morning and ends on Sunday. But before that, people can view the items either in person at McArthur Island or online starting Thursday.

“The goal is so the public can come and see the goods, potentially collect some of the items that may have been lost or stolen, so there is an opportunity for that,” said Carly Norris, Procurement Analyst for the City of Kamloops. “Then we also get some money back for the city to put in our general revenue fund.”

Some of the big ticket items this year include a pair of trucks as well as two tractors that can be viewed outside the curling rink.

As some of the items were stolen property recovered by the city and RCMP, anybody who believes an item is there can contact the city to have the item pulled from the sale and returned.

“They can email purchasing@kamloops.ca and Jennifer at Team Auctions, and then give their full name a description of the bike, any identification that they might have that is special for that item. And then we will put them in touch,” said Norris. “We have already reunited two or three people with their bikes.”

Items can be viewed and bid on here.
