Preliminary results in for Merritt by-election

MERRITT — Preliminary election results are in for the by-election held in Merritt to fill a vacant city council seat.

Yvette Baxter finished well ahead of three other candidates, tallying 229 votes.

Peter Coghill (75), Norma Jean Littleton (30) and MJ Phillips (26) finished second, third and fourth, respectively.

Voting took place during two advance opportunities (April 10 and April 17) and on Saturday during general voting day.

Preliminary results are subject to determination of official election results by the Chief Election Officer.
