Pair of closures planned for Trans Canada through Fraser Canyon
LYTTON, B.C. — Motorists are being advised to plan around a pair of closures on the Trans Canada Highway through the Fraser Canyon next week.
In a news release, the provincial Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says it is still working to repair the damage wrought by the November 2021 atmospheric river.
The province says the route will be closed at Tank Hill, about 14 kilometres east of Lytton, on Tuesday (Apr. 23) beginning at 4:30 a.m., with a projected reopening at 8:30 p.m. Canadian Pacific Kansas City will use the time to realign its crossing at the highway.
The second closure is slated for Monday, April 29 at Falls Creek, also known as Jackass Mountain. That closure is expected to begin at 7:00 a.m. and last a full 24 hours. A new permanent bridge will be installed at that location.
