KAMLOOPS — The BC Green Party has revealed the identity of one of its Kamloops candidates for the upcoming provincial election.

In a news release issued Wednesday (Apr. 17), the party says Randy Sunderman will carry the Green banner in Kamloops Centre.

Sunderman is described as an experienced economic consultant and longtime Kamloops resident.

“I am honoured to represent a party that deeply values the balance between our environment, social welfare, economic integrity and healthcare excellence,” said Sunderman in the release. “With Kamloops poised for growth and diversification, now is the time for innovative, evidence-based approaches, and I look forward to working hard in a collaborative fashion to ensure these crucial initiatives succeed.”

Sunderman ran in the 2022 municipal election, finishing ninth in the contest for eight City of Kamloops council seats.

In March of 2023, Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson tapped Sunderman to chair the city’s Development and Sustainability Standing Committee before council moved to dissolve all standing committees and revamp the city’s committee structure.

Sunderman will face incumbent BC United MLA Peter Milobar and BC Conservative candidate Dennis Giesbrecht in Kamloops Centre. The governing BC NDP has yet to choose its candidate, though Kamloops councillor Bill Sarai has expressed his intention to seek the nomination.
