KAMLOOPS — RCMP seized drugs, guns and cash after storming a home in Westsyde last week.

In a news release, spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says investigators with the Kamloops detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) searched a home in the 2700-block of Westsyde Road last Thursday (Apr. 11). They had identified the home as part of an active drug trafficking probe.

Inside, Mounties found about one kilogram of suspected meth, 12 ounces of cocaine and 11 ounces of fentanyl. They also found two shotguns, a carbine, a rifle and a taser, as well as a quantity of cash.

One person was arrested, but Evelyn says he has been released as part of the ongoing investigation.

“Last week’s successful search warrant execution was part of the proactive and continuous work that our TEU continues to initiate, and complements other recent seizures the team has made in Kamloops as part of our efforts to target those engaged in drug trafficking and violent crime in our community,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley in the release. “We look forward to being able to announce more future successes as we continue to advance our ongoing investigations.”

“The TEU’s commitment and dedication to targeting those involved in the drug trade continues to remove dangerous weapons and potentially lethal drugs from the community,” added the TEU’s Sgt. Kevin McIntyre. “We encourage anyone involved in a criminal lifestyle to reconsider their choices and seek supports on an exit strategy.”
