KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Gymnastics and Trampoline Centre athlete Gavin Dodd has added to his substantial hardware collection.

Dodd, 20, won two gold medals — in double-mini trampoline and synchronized trampoline (along with Keegan Soehn) — and placed sixth in senior men’s individual trampoline at Trampoline Gymnastics Elite Canada, which wrapped up April 7 in Ottawa.

He is focusing this season on improving in the individual trampoline discipline, with a focus on World Cup circuit events.

“I’m a newer athlete to the trampoline team at these World Cups, so right now I’m just building experience and figuring out how the World Cups go,” said Dodd, who donned the Maple Leaf at a World Cup event in March in Germany and did not advance past the qualifying rounds.

“It’s been in the last two years I’ve found my rhythm on trampoline.”

The next World Cup event is slated for June in Switzerland.

Dodd did not qualify for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris, but has Los Angeles 2028 in his sights.

Dodd has claimed provincial, national and world titles in the double-mini discipline, which is not an Olympic sport.

He broke his own senior men’s difficulty record in double-mini last year at nationals, when he repeated as Canadian champion.

“I’m all about just having as much fun as I can,” Dodd said. “I try not to be too serious. I just enjoy having fun and I love competing. That really helps me.”
