KAMLOOPS — RCMP have discovered a gathering spot for stolen vehicles on the Tk’emlups Reserve.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the discovery came on April 2, as police investigated the theft of a Volvo sedan from the 100-block of Clarke Street.

Frontline officers from the Tk’emlups detachment tracked down the Volvo at an address in the 600-block of Shuswap Road.

The Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit was called in and five other stolen vehicles were found at the site, from several communities in the B.C. Interior, as well as a stolen travel trailer. Officers also found a loaded handgun on site.

“Thanks to the quick actions of the Tk’emlúps police officers and city detachment support units, vehicles that had been stolen out of Oliver, Vernon, and Kamloops were recovered,” said Evelyn. “Four people who are known to police were located in the stolen travel trailer, detained, and later released pending further investigation, which includes the assistance of the Forensic Identification Services Unit.”

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2024-9491.
