RCMP release images of Valleyview arson suspect

KAMLOOPS — As RCMP continue their probe into a string of recent suspicious fires around Kamloops, investigators are releasing images of a suspect.
In a news release issued Tuesday (April 9), spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says at about 3:12 a.m. on March 30, police were called to a commercial property in the 2000-block of the East Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview, where several hedges were ablaze.
“Earlier this week, on April 4, investigators connected with the property representative and viewed video of the incident captured by security cameras,” said Evelyn. “The video captured footage of a man who is known to frequent the area, standing behind the hedges as they went up in flames, at approximately 1:35 a.m.”
After the hedges went up, the man is seen gathering his backpack and walking away.
