PHOENIX — Former Kamloops Blazers goaltender Connor Ingram is in the running for a major NHL award.

Ingram is the Arizona Coyotes’ nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the “player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.”

The Saskatoon-born Ingram played for the Blazers from 2014 to 2017, making Team Canada for the 2017 World Junior Hockey Championship.

He was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

A winding minor league road eventually took him to the Arizona organization. This year, he has seized the top goaltending spot on the team, leading the NHL with six shutouts.

Along the way, Ingram has dealt with the effects of previously undiagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), leading him to enter the league’s Player Assistance program in 2021.
