Man charged with robbery, assault after North Shore fracas

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man is facing multiple charges after a violent incident on the Kamloops North Shore.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were led to Angus Street and Mackenzie Avenue at about 12:30 p.m Tuesday (Apr. 2) by an open-line emergency call. Two people were reported fighting at that location.

“Officers arrived and located a man with serious injuries and a suspect nearby,” said Evelyn. “Shortly after, the suspect allegedly assaulted a police officer.”

The officer was not injured and the victim of the initial assault was rushed to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Jamie Jason Gilliam, 26, has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, assaulting a police officer and theft under $5,000. He remains in custody and is due back in court on April 10.
