Toxic drug alert issued in Williams Lake following multiple overdoses and deaths

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A toxic drug poisonings alert is in effect for Williams Lake throughout the rest of the week.

In a news release issued Monday (March 25), Interior Health states there have been multiple overdoses, including fatalities, in Williams Lake related to down or fentanyl use.

To prevent overdose, Interior Health asks residents who use down or fentanyl to start with a small amount and space out their dosages and not to use alone. Residents are also asked to carry naloxone and know how to use it.

Residents who use can get their drugs checked online.
