Pile burning to begin in Anglemont area this week
ANGLEMONT, B.C. — To get rid of debris ahead of summer wildfire season, pile burning in the Anglemont area is set to begin this week.
In a notice, the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says it will be working with the Okanagan Shuswap Resource District and the Anglemont Fire Department to burn around 250 piles of wood debris. The piles are expected to begin burning on Tuesday (Mar. 26), and wrap up Wednesday (Mar. 27).
The plan is to have the Anglemont Fire Department work with the Okanagan Shuswap Resource District to monitor the pile burning within the interface area. But burning will only go ahead if conditions are suitable for it, and the smoke can dissipate.
However, BCWS notes that smoke and flames might be visible from Anglemont, and nearby areas.
