KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) Board of Directors approved the district’s annual budget for 2024, with an 8.3 per cent revenue increase via taxation.

Although, due to the district seeing more growth, the TNRD says many property owners will see a percentage increase lower than 8.3 per cent, or even a decrease in taxes owing this year. It’s dependent on the assessed value of their property.

In a news release issued Thursday (March 21), the TNRD says the tax requisition of $27.2 million in 2024 will be split between 10 electoral areas and 11 member municipalities. The requisition increased from $25.1 million in 2023.

“Our staff departments have made a concerted effort to reduce expenses and other costs where possible while maintaining consistent service levels,” Scott Hildebrand, TNRD chief administrative officer says. “This work has been important given the state of the economy and continued inflationary pressures, which have increased costs of service delivery.”
