WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — More than 600 grams of suspected illicit fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and crack were seized near Williams Lake earlier this month.

In a news release issued Thursday (March 21), BC Highway Patrol says an officer stopped a vehicle speeding on Highway 97 in 141 Mile House then arrested the driver and a passenger for drug trafficking after 7:00 p.m. on March 12.

Along with the drugs, police say they seized body armour and ammunition from the vehicle.

“Since January, our northern BC Highway Patrol officers from Dawson Creek to Smithers to 141 Mile House have been doing phenomenal work taking numerous firearms, as well as a large quantity of ammunition and drugs, off the streets because they are attentive during their traffic stops,” Cpl. Melissa Jongema says. “Help us keep our towns safe by reporting suspicious vehicles and persons related to drug dealing to your local police.”

Following the traffic stop, BC Highway Patrol says the Williams Lake RCMP detachment obtained a search warrant for a home and seized ammunition and $3,000 cash.

The driver and passenger were released without charges as police investigate.
