One $11.5M multi-family permit spikes building sector numbers in February

KAMLOOPS — A single permit for a multi-family unit carried a lot of heavy lifting for the Kamloops’ building sector’s value in February.
New numbers released by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division show $16.9 million in permit activity in February 2024, nearly double the $8.4 million in January and more than double the same month last year.
The 61 total permits issued in February are slightly above the 50 issued during the same month last year and the 53 issued in January.
The needle mover was one multi-family permit – three or more units – worth $11.5 million. The city reports 39 new multi-family sites in February compared to zero during the same month in 2023.
