Man reportedly beaten and left near Sugar Loaf overpass: Kamloops RCMP

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses and information after a beaten man was found on the side of Highway 5 near the Sugar Loaf overpass Tuesday (March 12) evening.

In a news release issued Wednesday morning, RCMP say officers were called to the overpass at around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday where a driver found the injured man against a concrete barrier in the northbound lanes of Highway 5.

Based on the initial investigation, Kamloops RCMP S/Sgt. Todd Wiebe says police believe the man was beaten and left underneath the overpass before he made his way to the highway. He was sent to hospital with what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who was driving in the area of Highway 5 near the Sugar Loaf overpass between 3:00 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. Tuesday and has dashcam video that may have captured surrounding traffic, or vehicles that stopped or drove slowly, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
