Kamloops man arrested and charged after reportedly stealing vehicle from North Shore home
KAMLOOPS — A 35-year-old man from Kamloops was arrested and charged after a stolen truck was recovered on Friday (March 8).
In a news release issued Tuesday (March 10) morning, RCMP say Justin Edward Read is charged with driving while prohibited, theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for a police officer. Read remains in custody ahead of his next court date while a second suspect was released with a court date and conditions.
The charges stem from when officers were told of a vehicle stolen from a home on Alexander Avenue on the North Shore at around 5:45 a.m. Friday. RCMP say officers went to the home at around 8:30 a.m. and arrested a suspect who returned to the location, but the truck was still missing.
“Around 9:15 a.m., officers patrolling the area observed the truck and attempted to stop it, but it allegedly fled,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson says. “With the assistance of the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment, the vehicle was relocated shortly after, and a suspect was taken into custody without incident.”
