Seedy Saturday returns to Mount Paul Community Food Hall this weekend

KAMLOOPS – Seedy Saturday is back this weekend (March 9) at the Mount Paul Community Food Hall.

The annual spring event aims to be a fun and enjoyable time focused on local food, seeds and food security and sovereignty.

“This is going to be the second year at this location and we’re pretty pumped about it,” said Greg Unger, Kamloops Farmers Market Manager. “You can think of it kind of as like the wrap up for the indoor market, or you can think of it as the bringer of the outdoor market. This is kind of what kicks it all off – seeds. ”

Thirty vendors selling everything from seeds to freshly baked bread will be set up from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

However, unlike the regular farmers market, there will be no crafters at the event, the focus will be on food, and obviously, seeds.

A series of presentations is scheduled throughout the day covering everything from seed-saving techniques to growing your own vegetables.

“It’s going to be a great time if you like gardening or even if you just want to support local agriculture and food producers,” Unger said. “You can get houseplants — there’s going to be all kinds of things.”

The event runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Mount Paul Community Food Centre (140 Laburnum Street).
