KAMLOOPS — It was a leap year to remember for Kamloops RCMP.

In a news release issued Thursday (March 7), RCMP say two search warrants related to a drug trafficking investigation were executed on Feb. 29: one at a motel room in downtown Kamloops and another at a home in Dallas.

In total, police seized:

  • More than one kilogram of cocaine
  • More than one kilogram of methamphetamine
  • Approximately 14 ounces of fentanyl (four of which were raw)
  • Approximately one ounce of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)
  • More than 12 ounces of Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB)

Police add the amount of fentanyl seized was greater than nearly 10,000 potentially lethal doses. Additionally, three guns, ammunition, a taser, cash and paraphernalia indicating drug trafficking were seized.

“The drug seizure is significant in relation to the size of Kamloops and is expected to cause a disruption to those involved in the local drug trade,” said TEU Sgt. Kevin McIntyre, Kamloops RCMP’s Targeted Enforcement Unit says. “Those who are entrenched in the criminal lifestyle and may be concerned about potential fallouts that could occur as a result, are encouraged to reach out to the Kamloops RCMP Detachment with any information.”

Two men and two women were arrested following the search warrants. One of the men and two women were released pending the ongoing investigation, which RCMP say can take months to complete while police submit and wait for the return of drug analysis reports, and secure and process evidence. The other man was held in custody on an outstanding warrant.

Anyone with information that may be related to the investigation is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
