Blazers push pace in victory over Giants

The Kamloops Blazers nabbed their 20th victory of the WHL campaign on Saturday at Sandman Centre.

Jordan Keller, Logan Bairos and Matteo Koci scored for the Blazers (20-34-3-3) in a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Giants, with Kamloops outshooting the visitors 45-27.

Jesse Sanche backstopped the Blazers, making 23 saves to pick up the victory between the pipes.

Samuel Honzek and London Hoilett had goals for the Giants (28-27-4-0), whose goaltender, Matthew Hutchison, stopped 44 shots in a losing effort.

Kamloops will wrap a four-game homestand on Wednesday against the Portland Winterhawks, with game time slated for 7 p.m. at Sandman Centre.

Portland (41-15-2-1) is second in Western Conference standings, one point behind the Prince George Cougars (41-15-1-3).

Kamloops and the Seattle Thunderbirds (22-35-2-0) are tied in the Western Conference basement.
