KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame has announced its latest round of inductees.

The 2024 Hall inductions will include three individuals and one team.

This year’s team induction will be the 1973-74 North Kamloops Kinsmen, which was the first Kamloops team to earn a medal in the inaugural Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament (KIBIHT). Members to be inducted include the team’s coach, the late Ev Miller, and players Rod Danchuk, Tom Jurista, Dave Lussier and Denis Poelzer.

Individuals who will be inducted include KJ Klontz, a longtime sports advocate, organizer and athlete, championship curler and long distance runner Randy Nelson, and the third induction will be done posthumously.

The Hall will be adding former Kamloops Minor Hockey (KMHA) President Jim Roode, who passed away in April of 2023. Roode came to the country from South Africa, developed a love for hockey and wound up serving nearly 20 years on the board of the KMHA.

The date for this year’s Kamloops Sports Council Athletics Awards and Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony has not yet been announced.
