RCMP seek witnesses to fatal Feb. 12 semi crash near Monte Creek

MONTE CREEK, B.C. — Police investigating a fatal head-on collision outside of Kamloops two weeks ago are looking for witnesses.

The crash between two commercial trucks took place late in the afternoon on Monday, February 12, on Highway 97 between Monte Creek and Monte Lake.

Cpl. Melissa Jongema of B.C Highway Patrol says one of the trucks did not properly negotiate a curve in the road and crossed the centre line into the path of the other truck.

One of the drivers was killed while the other was sent to hospital for treatment of injuries. The highway was closed for the rest of the evening while police investigated.

Jongema says investigators are looking to speak to any witnesses who may not have already spoken to them. They are also looking to obtain relevant dashcam footage from either before or after the crash.
