Kamloops product Maddy Gobeil earns Canada West first-team all-star honours

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops basketball product has been named a first-team all-star in Canada West after the regular season wrapped up last weekend.

Former South Kamloops Secondary School Titan Maddy Gobeil, now a fourth-year guard with the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades, finished second in scoring Canada West, averaging 17.7 points per game this season.

She also had 66 steals, which was second in the conference, and ranked in the top 10 in several other offensive and defensive categories this season, as she helped the Cascades secure the #4 seed in the upcoming Canada West Championship tournament, hosted by UFV starting Wednesday, Feb 21.
