Blazers, Cougars split weekend home and home
KAMLOOPS — The home teams reigned supreme this weekend between the Kamloops Blazers and Prince George Cougars.
After controlling home ice on Friday night to the tune of a 7-1 Cougars victory, the Blazers returned home to the Sandman Centre and skated off with a 2-1 shootout win.
Despite outshooting the Blazers 48-30 in the contest, Prince George struggled to beat Jesse Sanche who was named first star of the contest for his 47 save night. Cougars goalie Ty Young earned second star honours.
The Blazers opened the scoring in the middle stanza with Ashton Ferster netting his 14th of the year. The Cougars would respond in the third with Ondrej Becher’s 20th.
