KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Storm blew out the Summerland Steam 9-3 in their final home game of the regular season Friday (Feb. 16).

The Storm scored four goals in the first period and never got the Steam back within striking distance at McArthur Park Arena.

With the win, along with the Revelstoke Grizzlies defeating the Sicamous Eagles 2-1 on Friday, the Storm sit in sole possession of second in the Doug Birks Division. The Storm’s record is 31-11-0-1, good for 63 points in 43 games. They’re six points behind the division champion Grizzlies but lead the third-place Eagles by two points with one game remaining.

The Storm wrap up their season Saturday in 100 Mile House to take on the Wranglers. If the Storm win or even earn a single point, they’ll clinch home ice for the first round of the Kootenay Internation Junior Hockey League playoffs that begin on Friday, Feb. 23.
