Blazers blown out by Cougars 7-1
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers were blown out on the road 7-1 by the Prince George Cougars Friday (Feb. 16).
The Blazers did open the scoring in a tightly contested first period as Ashton Ferster wristed the puck home from the right circle.
After that, it was all downhill for the Blazers. The Cougars scored seven unanswered goals – including five in the second period – en route to the 7-1 win. Prince George outshot Kamloops 35-13 over the final two periods.
The Blazers fall to 16-30-3-2 on the 2023-24 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, good for 37 points in 51 games. Kamloops remains at the bottom of the Western Conference standings and 10 points out of the eighth and final playoff spot.
