Serious collision halts overnight traffic on Highway 97 between Monte Creek and Monte Lake

UPDATE (6:00 a.m.): DriveBC says the stretch of Highway 97 between Monte Creek and Monte Lake is reopened.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — A serious collision Monday (Feb. 12) night continues to halt traffic on Highway 97 between Monte Creek and Monte Lake into the morning.

DriveBC first reported of the vehicle incident on Highway 97 between Barnhartvale Road and Hanna Road at around 6:00 p.m. Monday. As of publication, traffic remains closed in both directions.

Photos posted to social media shows two semi-trucks collided on the stretch of Highway 97.

CFJC Today has reached out to BC Emergency Health Services and BC Highway Patrol for further details.

Meantime, a detour for residents is available via Barnhartvale Road to Highway 1 while commercial vehicles can take Highway 97B.

Another update is due at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
