Emergency department at Nicola Valley Hospital temporarily closed for second time in three days
MERRITT, B.C. — For the second time in three days, the emergency department at Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt will be temporarily closed for 24 hours.
In a news release issued Sunday (Feb. 11), Interior Health says the closure of Merritt’s ER from 8:00 a.m. Monday until 8:00 a.m. Tuesday is due to limited physician availability.
All other inpatient services at Nicola Valley Hospital will continue as normal, but patients in Merritt and area can access emergency care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during the closure.
Residents in Merritt and area who need life-threatening emergency care are told to call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.
